ABOUT FACULTY

Dr. Shivani Kalhan

Professor and Head

Dr Shivani Kalhan is an alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College Pune (1991) and a post graduate from Army Hospital Research and Referral, Delhi Cantt(2000). She has done 10 years service in the Army Medical Corps. She was promoted as Professor (Pathology) in February 2011 and has a wide range of administrative and professional experience. Before joining GIMS, she was working as Professor and Head, Department of Pathology at SHKM Government Medical College, Nalhar, Haryana.

    Dr Shalini Bahadur graduated from Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi and post graduated from King George's Medical University, Lucknow. She's honed her skills as an astute pathologist during her years accross several institutions of repute namely Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi where she spent over seven years working as a senior resident and Assistant Professor in Pathology. Subsequently she was attached for a period of nine months with Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences as an Assistant professor. She was promoted as Associate Professor, Pathology at North Delhi Municipal Corporation Medical College and Hindu Rao Hospitals where she continued to sharpen skills both as a reporting pathologist and as a teacher of undergraduate medical students, DNB candidates and medical technologists. She has been working with GIMS since 25th November 2017 and has had the proud privilege of establishing the department of Pathology and Blood bank. Her area of interest are cytology and histopathology. She has won accolades both in curricular and co curricular activities.

    Dr. Vivek Gupta

    Dr. Vivek Gupta is working as Associate Professor, Department of Pathology and In-charge of Molecular Diagnostics and Research Laboratory at Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, India. He has earned is M.D. degree in Pathology and Doctoral degree working in area of Infections Molecular Pathology. He has 45 international publications, 12 extramural projects from various National and International funding agencies and 12 awards to his credit. He has been awarded as ‘Young Investigator award from India & South East Asia’ by Bill & MeLinda Gates Foundation, USA in recognition of his work on tubercular lymph nodes. He has guided postgraduate students and taught many undergraduate students.


    Dr. Vivek have received M.B.B.S. degree from Nagpur University and M.D. (Pathology) from Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DU), Nagpur, India. During his post-graduation, he received Dr. Harold Gunson Fellowship, at Berlin, Germany. He has done his Ph.D. in the area of molecular diagnostics of tubercular lymph nodes, supported by research grant from International Society of Infectious Diseases, USA for which he was the Chief Investigator. He received BILL & MELINDA GATES foundation Award for Young Investigator from India and Southeast Asia” in recognition of his research work in the area of tuberculosis. Dr. Vivek has also been principal investigator and co-investigator in various other international and national funded projects. He has authored many peer reviewed high impact international publications. Dr. Vivek has served as faculty and researcher in Department of Pathology, Uttar Pradesh Rural Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Saifai and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Wardha. His research interest includes Molecular Pathology.
