Department Of Pathology and Lab Medicine provides diagnostic services thus supporting patient care provided by clinical specialities at Government Institute of Medical Sciences. Cytopathology, hematology, clinical pathology and bone marrow aspiration cytology are already available. Hematology is equipped with automated 5 part and 3 part analysers and coagulation analysers. Concerted efforts are underway to develop histopathology, immuo- histochemistry, frozen section, immunology, HPLC and flow cytometery to aid diagnosticchallenges and facilitate better patient management. We are gearing up to initiate medical education with under graduate MBBS teaching expected to roll out soon. Requisite infrastructure and expertise to initiate training of laboratory technologists is also available.
